hi,I'm Mal.My paintings have had a major influence in my life over the past fifty years. They were the prime mover in producing the Ostreme Pageant and operetta, ‘The Bells of Santiago.’ This led a collection of fifty paintings held in Swansea, depicting the history of its shipping and copper barques.
Many of my paintings are seascapes, early works were in oil, but the majority of my work is acrylic and nowadays watercolour. Being largely self-taught my career was with BP, I took my sketch books everywhere I went during the adventures of North Sea Oil and Gas Fields. I have studies of every oil and gas field in Abu Dhabi and neighbouring countries, I love the peace and tranquillity of the desert. I have developed a rapid method of sketching which observers find extraordinary as it captures the essence of a landscape within a minute. I currently reside in Lymington, Hampshire, England where I am building a new studio. Lymington is a beautiful port where there is a host of marine subjects and shipyards and the Solent coastal paths.
